Host
Open field space. Good for small groups of 2-3 players per coach. Run for 5-8 minutes.
Prep
- Each player gets a baseball and a glove. Players spread out with plenty of space around them.
Run
- Players toss the ball straight up over their head, trying to make it go 10-15 feet high.
- Players move their feet to get directly under the ball as it comes down.
- Catch the ball in the glove.
- If a player drops the ball, it does not count. First player to catch 10 balls wins.
Say
- Up and under!
- Move your feet!
- Watch the ball all the way in!
Watch for
- Players tossing the ball sideways instead of straight up.
- Players reaching for the ball instead of moving their feet to get under it.
Harder / easier
- Easier: Use a tennis ball or soft foam ball.
- Harder: Toss the ball higher. Have players call out 'Ball!' as they toss and catch.
Why this one
